Tyson Beckford’s nephew arrested in New York City fatal wreck

A recent crash in New York City resulted in the death of the Hillside bus driver behind the wheel when an allegedly impaired Georgia man stole a truck and crashed it into the city bus at a Greenwich Village intersection. Four others were also injured in the accident.

According to the New York Daily News, the Griffin, Georgia, native is the nephew of actor and model Tyson Beckford. In Instagram photos taken during the hours leading up to the crash, the nephew appears in photos with Beckford and fellow supermodel Shanina Shaik. The three appear to be partying in the photos.

The Georgia man was arrested on one charge of vehicular manslaughter and other offenses. Allegedly, before the crash that killed the 49-year-old bus driver, Beckford’s nephew had been tossed out of the Dream Downtown Hotel and couldn’t find a limo to take him home. He then stole a truck idling curbside before crashing it into the bus four blocks away.

Authorities were conducting drug and alcohol testing on the man at Bellevue Hospital.

Drunk driving charges are always serious business even when they don’t result in additional charges for vehicular manslaughter or worse. Defendants facing DWI charges should refuse to give any statements to the police until they have consulted with an attorney.

A seasoned New York attorney familiar with the state’s DWI laws can help you navigate the legal system and fight to avoid a conviction by mounting evidentiary challenges and negotiating with the prosecution to have the charges reduced, pleaded down or tossed out entirely.
