Cellphone app helps New York drivers avoid DWI charges

There is nothing wrong with partying and having a good time. When the partying involves alcohol, people who are driving should try to make plans to avoid having to get behind the wheel of a vehicle after drinking. A new app that is available on a variety of platforms aims to help drivers in New York avoid drinking and driving. The app is geared toward users who are 18 to 24 years old, but it can prove to be useful to all drivers who have had a little too much to drink.

The app is called “Have a Plan” and is available on Windows, iPhone and Android devices. It can be used by people who have been enjoying alcohol to the point that they need a safe way to get home.

Users can get a list of taxicab companies, check a list of designated drivers, test their motor skills, check estimated impairment levels and access local 911 services all through the app. Have a Plan also offers a variety of information that drivers who have been drinking might find useful.

Making plans in advance of the night out is one of the most effective ways that drivers can ensure they won’t have to go through the difficult process of fighting against a drunk driving charge.

There might still be instances in which a driver does face these charges. In those cases, being informed and getting answers to questions about the charges might help the defendant to answer to the charges in a way that minimizes the effects of the accusations.
