Porsche destroyed in alleged DUI crash in New York

| Aug 15, 2014 | Drunk Driving Charges

A man wrecked his Porsche in a crash in New York when he collided with a semi truck. The accident took place on the George Washington Bridge. Photos from the scene show the sports car, which is absolutely mangled, with the front end reduced to little more than twisted metal. The car is crushed all the way back to the front seats, the window is smashed, and one of the tires appears to have almost come all the way off of the vehicle.

The police are now saying that they believe that the man involved in the accident was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. He is 50 years old. That man suffered from a broken pelvis in the wreck, and he also reportedly broke his ankles.

According to police, the incident happened at about one in the morning. The semi was apparently struck by the Porsche, a 2003 model, while driving west. After the initial impact, the car got stuck below the semi, which then dragged it along until the driver could stop fully.

The Porsche driver is facing DWI charges for two reasons. First, the emergency crews said that they could smell alcohol at the scene of the crash. Secondly, the police allegedly discovered a vodka bottle inside the destroyed car. It was mostly empty.

The semi driver is not facing charges.

DWI charges can lead to fines, a ruined reputation, and much more. Because of this, it is important for individuals who have been accused of drunk driving, whether or not they were involved in an accident, to know what legal options they still have.
