Man faces charges after accident with pedestrian

When a car accident happens, some people automatically think that drunk driving might have played a part in the accident. When that thought is factual, the drunk driver will likely face charges for the accident. A recent story in New York shows how one accident could end up having serious consequences for all parties involved in the accident.

The SUV-pedestrian accident occurred when a 69-year-old grandfather and his 2-year-old grandson were struck by an SUV. The man suffered injuries to his back, neck and foot. The 2-year-old boy, who was in a stroller, was said to have minor injuries to his arms and his head.

The man was pushing the stroller across a crosswalk when they were struck. When the alleged drunk driver hit the stroller, it became lodged under another vehicle.

The alleged 56-year-old drunk driver is facing several charges. He is facing a charge for failing to exercise due care to avoid a pedestrian. He has been charged with DWI, two counts of third-degree assault and reckless driving.

Being involved in an accident is harrowing for both sides of the accident. In this case, a man and child suffered injuries and another man is facing serious charges because of an accident. This shows that one accident can affect multiple lives in different ways.

Anyone who is facing charges related to a traffic accident should seek to understand his or her options for dealing with the charges. Once you understand the meaning of the charges, the evidence and the possible penalties, you can decide how you want to handle your case.
