Three people are dead in an accident with a teen driver in New York. The entire tragic accident could have been avoided, but the driver allegedly stole the vehicle and then ran from the police.

According to reports, the police first spotted the car when it ran a stop sign. An officer then tried to pull the Nissan over for that infraction. A 17-year-old boy was behind the wheel.

However, the boy decided to run from the police. The police followed the vehicle until it finally slammed into a Honda CRV. The CRV was making a left turn at the time.

Inside of the SUV was a 74-year-old man and his 71-year-old wife. Both suffered catastrophic injuries in the crash and passed away. A 19-year-old man in the Nissan also died, and it appears that he was the brother of the driver.

That driver was hurt, but his injuries are not life-threatening. He got medical treatment and was then arrested. Another passenger, a 16-year-old boy, was also in the car. He lived, though his injuries were not noted.

Reports claim not only that the car was stolen, but also that the driver was under the influence.

According to the son of the couple who died, they had been married for five decades. “They went out to dinner last night with other people,” he said. “They dropped the other couples off last night and were heading home when they got hit. It’s unreal.”

Cases like this show how driver error and illegal activity put everyone in danger. If you suffer serious injuries or lose a loved one, you need to know how to seek financial compensation.
