Pedestrian avoids injuries as SUV hits an office in Long Island

Personal injury claims are important for victims to pursue. Why? Without one, victims of accidents may be left to foot the bill for their injuries, which could add up to hundreds or thousands of dollars. Fortunately, you have a right to file a claim and seek compensation.

Sometimes, people get lucky and avoid serious injuries, such as in this case where a pedestrian narrowly avoided being hit by a car that went on to strike an office building in Long Island. The pedestrian was just a few inches from the SUV that left the roadway and hit the office building.

The driver of the vehicle, an 86-year-old man, and his wife, a passenger, were both taken to the hospital for minor injuries. Amazingly, no one else was injured in the collision, even though there were people in the office building at the time of the crash.

This is a good story to discuss because it shows how important it is for pedestrians to be aware of their surroundings and for drivers to be cautious when traveling. This pedestrian was fortunate to be able to move out of the way, and that's not something that should be taken for granted. Vehicles do sometimes leave the roadways, and drivers make mistakes that can put pedestrians and others at risk.

If you are ever involved in a pedestrian accident, are struck by a vehicle that hits a building or home or are involved in a car crash, remember that you can pursue a claim against the at-fault party for any injuries you've suffered.
